Why do we organise this knowledge booster session ?

Our knowledge booster sessions are short live, interactive, online meetings about a specific topic. These can be eye-openers, explanation of new trends and technologies, or discussions about new developments that will impact your business.

We decided to run a booster session about the latest trends in cybersecurity, ransomware, API and cloud security, and take a look back at the biggest threats and vulnerabilities in 2021, while looking forward at what 2022 has up its sleeve. Although we are still in the first month, 2022 has been exciting for cybersecurity professionals, with serious fall-out of the Log4j / Log4Shell vulnerability, the attack on the websites of Ukrainian public institutions and government agencies via the WhisperGate Wiper Malware, and continuous streams of DDoS, malware, phishing, ransomware, ... attacks. To get a feel of currently detected cyber attacks, check out the so-called Live Cyber Threat and Incident Maps at CheckPoint, BitDefender, ... (for an amazing list of such maps, head to Norse Corp).

We would like to invite you to a free interactive one-hour session with cybersecurity expert Erwin Geirnaert, where we look at the past (2021), the present (2022, which already started with a bang in terms of ransomware and malware) and the future of cybersecurity.

Besides offering ethical hacking and cybersecurity solutions, services and consulting via his company Shift Left Security, Erwin also writes a newsletter blog at stopdebandieten.be, where he just added an update on Log4Shell and the WhisperGate malware. He also produces a regular podcast, which you can find at https://anchor.fm/erwin-geirnaert Finally, Erwin likes to share his knowledge and insights via webinars and training.

Agenda of this session (questions welcome):

  • Looking back at 2021: an overview of the biggest security issues of last year
  • Looking forward at 2022: what can we expect ?
  • What is the current status on Log4Shell ?
  • How this leads to more ransomware attacks
  • What about cloud security ?

We will also answer your questions. If possible, please send in your questions upfront via pvr@itworks.be or put them in the chat during the session. You can indicate your interest in this session via this LinkedIn Event page, but you will only get the meeting link if you register properly via:
